So here is how our holidays went....we woke up Wednesday morning (Christmas Eve) pretending that is was actually Christmas and let Aspen see what Santa had brought her....the baby stuff (from Grammy). Then we let her play with that stuff all day and around 3 we started opening all the gifts we had here. Aspen loved tearing off the paper. In fact, she was upset when we were finished. She even got to help Daddy open his gifts! Then we packed up the car around 5pm and decided to head out to Upland, where Gilbert's family live. After checking the GPS system on my phone and realizing that traffic was completely stopped in all directions and would probably be that way all night. So we decided to pack some food for the road and we took side streets all the way there! For those of you that know the southern California area -- you know that there is quite a distance between Culver City and Upland. It took us nearly 2 hours to get there, but we felt so satisfied because we were not part of the rat race sitting on the stopped freeways! Well, once we arrived in Upland and brought all the gifts in, it was time to eat and put the kids to bed. Only to wake up the next moring and let Aspen do the whole Santa gift thing over agian with her cousin Angel. She also got to upwrap gifts again. But this time she knew what she was doing and needed no teaching! She helped everyone open their gifts! As for Christmas Aspen got so many toys she doesn't need anything else! And she has a birthday soon! Lucky!
